I joined Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (IITK) as an Assistant Professor in late 1990s and ultimately became a full Professor in 2001. I have taught both undergraduate and postgraduate students at IITK over the past thirty years. My research has focused on development of new reactions with emphasis on construction of pharmacophores, synthesis of biologically active molecules, computational/experimental investigation of facial selectivity, and computational investigation of torquoselectivity and Morita-Baylis-Hillman reaction. I have published over 90 research papers and I hold 3 intenational patents. I have also written a book titled “Steric and Stereoelectronic Effects in Organic Chemistry”.
